GOING BACK TO THE SEYCHELLES
I arrived at Mahe without any jet lag and I was greeted by the tropical island’s wonderful warmth and sunshine. My luggage was quick and so I had time to buy some local duty frees. Then straight to a small domestic aircraft and a 15 minute flight with breathtaking views of the turquoise sea dotted with sand fringed islands to Denis Island.
It was like a dream! The flight landed on a short strip, just steps from the hotel entrance, the only hotel on the island! It is pure barefoot luxury but relaxed, with cushioned seating areas everywhere, and lovely views of the sea, the pool and gardens. Your home is your villa with an outdoor bathroom, (a proper bath tub!) a private patio, and a cushioned shaded day bed in your private garden leading to your private stretch of beach! The biggest decision is whether to relax on the beach or the shade in the garden, or to be energetic and try the water sports, boats, or take a walk along the endless beach, or explore the island or sample some of the wonderful food and enjoy a cocktail waiting for the sunset!!
Mahe is the main gateway to the Seychelles. It has a variety of famous and very luxurious hotels. The Banyan Tree, the Four Seasons and the Hilton Hotel. All with breathtaking views, infinity pools, glass fronted bathrooms and spas to die for!
I visited a third Island, Praslin, only a 1 hour boat ride or a 15 minute flight, Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles, it’s resorts tend to be less cosmopolitan and are perfect for nature and beach lovers.
However if a long international flight is enough travelling for you, but you still wish for the white beach and nature experience, then look no further than the St. Anne’s Resort and Spa.
This has everything, a short boat ride from Mahe it occupies the whole island and every villa comes with bicycles! Get active at the Sports Centre, or relax at the Spa. There are nature trails, fabulous beaches, a stunning pool and restaurant. I remember the amazing sunset on the dazzling white beach, and then the resort itself lit at night like fairy tale magic! I was spoilt for choice with food and restaurants, and torn between falling in to my huge comfortable bed or sitting out to enjoy the soft and beautiful night air.
Honeymoons, romance, the picture postcard island of the Seychelles will have a magical effect on you. I hope you will come and discover it for yourself…and soon!
