The Teacher & The Sportsman
Beth Langridge and Ollie Rayner share their loved-up honeymoon story.

From Sussex to the Maldives
Beth Langridge, a teacher in Highgate, North London and Ollie Rayner, a professional cricketer with Middlesex, enjoyed the traditional church wedding in Forest Row before jetting off to the sunshine of the Maldives.
They stayed all-inclusive in a ‘not particular glamorous’ but laid-back beach villa at the Kuramathi Island Resort, travelling there from Male by seaplane. “We chose the Maldives because we wanted somewhere exotic with endless sunshine and blue seas and we liked the idea of an all-inclusive. Our only concern, well Ollie’s concern really, was whether there would be enough to do but there was and I only had to throw him a cricket ball once! We really, really enjoyed it.”

Snorkelling and Stingrays
“The snorkelling was amazing and was something we did every day. We fed the stingrays and went on nature walks, which included seeing the Maldives’ oldest tree (300 years old). The lack of light pollution at night was also wonderful”

Beth and Ollie booked through Hallmark Travel in East Grinstead, Sussex and first visited when a Kuoni honeymoon rep was there. “We were given a discount and the rep emailed us afterwards to ask what we liked and what we wanted to do. We also got an upgraded room.”

“Our all-inclusive plan was great and though we paid extra to eat elsewhere one night we didn’t really feel it was better than the buffets.”

“The whole trip was wonderful, aside from the SriLankan Airlines flights, which were not impressive, although we did manage to get some seats with extra legroom on the return for Ollie’s long legs; he’s 6ft 7in!”

“I’d definitely recommend the Maldives – in fact our closest friends have just booked after listening to us raving about it”
