A BLOG FROM MARGARET WHALE

Back from the heat of Dubai and Sir Bani Yas Island.

Dubai: the Palace Downtown Hotel was in a perfect position. Next to the Burj Khalifa tower and also the amazing musical fountains. Also near the Dubai Mall which had so many restaurants but a place to avoid Friday evenings as it is Dubai weekend and so many people!
Dune bashing was great - glad the driver knew what he was doing! Camel riding in the desert was interesting, especially with a very grumpy camel!

Sir Bani Yas Island: El Sahel villa resort was fantastic. Great villas all with plunge pools. Waking up to see gazelles walking past your room was different! Went on a wadi walk which was interesting and of course, the Safari Drive was great. As it was the start of low season because of the heat, there were only 3 out of 30 villas occupied and we had 2 of them! So we got fantastic attention and our last night was a meal they set out in the savannah. On to Al Yamm beach resort. Again, great villas looking out to sea. As the only three hotels on the island are owned by Anantara, we got free shuttle buses to each to try their food out. In our opinion, El Sahel was the best resort. Back to Dubai for our last night in the Le Meridien hotel near the airport. Got upgraded to The Royal Club which was good and had a great last meal.

Could recommend Sir Bani Yas Island to anyone.

Thanks for organising a great holiday for us and Peter and Sue
